Announced today, the popular traffic-driving site, StumbleUpon has received $17 million from their Investors. The site has decided to put that money back into its Stumblers community by growing the site.

In an announcement from StumbleUpon, they plan to invest the money to grow the core discovery technology, branch out to mobile devices and television so you can stumble across more platforms and grow the company with hiring more employees.

Since its initial series A of investments in April of 2009, the discovery site, StumbleUpon has more than doubled its registered user to more than 14 million and more than tripled its content recommendations to more than 800 million per month. In addition, the company has surpassed one million installs of its iPhone and Android applications since launching them in August 2010.

StumbleUpon is a search engine discovery social networking site that caters to your likes or dislikes of shared content from across the web. It has become the #1 social networking site, which sends traffic to other sites and has been used by over 60,000 marketers to promote their content. The same Investors who invest in sites like Google and Facebook also back StumbleUpon.
