“Gangnam Style” Video Surpasses World Record for YouTube Likes (Stats)
Is this song stuck in your head? It is echoing in the minds of at least 241,664,464 and counting.
This viral sensation has taken the Internet by storm and has cascaded offline as well. Many people want to learn the Korean rapper, Psy’s now infamous “Gangnam Style” dance and choreograph it into sweet moves on the dance floor.
Though the video is a hit now, it wasn’t an overnight sensation, as you can see in the graph below; the video was posted in July of this year but did not reach true “viral” potential until late August, early September and now it is breaking records.
According to the Guinness World Records, the “Gangnam Style” video is now the most liked video in YouTube’s history. Adding to history making, he is also the very first South Korean artist to top the charts on iTunes. His demographic seems to be a hit amongst girls and boys ages 13-17 and males especially ages 18-24; YouTubers have left 1,130,919 comments with 790,038 of them adding the video to their favorites.
